Brixton Village is a 1930s indoor market in the heart of Brixton and is home to a range of businesses. But by mid-2009 a significant number of its shops were unoccupied and derelict but in October 2009 twenty shop units were made available through a competition to find creative projects to make use of the available space, ranging from new and existing businesses, community groups and arts and theatre projects. Once these were found a new an improved Brixton Village was born.
So this weekend me and the Swede took a stroll down to the village and were surprised at just how many amazing new shops were on offer. Vintage clothing, fashion clothing, every different cuisine under the sun, (Friday night was spent eating the most amazing Thai food I’ve had in a long time) bakery’s, coffee shops and my favorite find, a wheat free café that even sell’s pies! YUM. There are some gorgeous clothes on offer, and id highly recommend popping into Saloon 97 There’s a great mix of modern and vintage ladies wear all brilliantly priced, ill defiantly be going back. For me Brixton is a brilliant place to live its diverse, loud, colorful, busy and full of hidden treasures. I suggest you pay a visit!
